Since the beginning of our partnership with Magi Farm, we have implemented the innovative Black Soldier Fly bioconversion technology — a natural and eco-friendly solution to tackle food waste generated from our dining outlets, including breakfast service. These remarkable maggots consume twice their weight in organic waste daily and produce nutrient-rich pellets that nourish our gardens, closing the loop between waste reduction and environmental care. With 50 maggot boxes in continuous rotation, Merusaka Nusa Dua has processed over 27,200 kilograms of food waste in a year of collaboration. This significant volume demonstrates the tangible impact of our sustainable practices and our commitment to reducing landfill waste and lowering methane emissions.

Our dedicated team closely manages the maggot farm, ensuring the maggots are well maintained and the system operates efficiently. The team provides regular reports to Magi Farm to track progress and optimize operations. Additionally, Magi Farm collects the mature maggots every week for breeding, lifecycle continuation, or value-added processing. Magi Farm’s expertise in transforming food waste into sustainable resources has been invaluable in helping us reduce our environmental footprint. This certificate of appreciation is not just a recognition of the work done but also a motivation to continue advancing responsible waste management and sustainability initiatives.

NUSA DUA, BALI – JULY 23, 2025 – In a vibrant celebration of National Children’s Day, Merusaka Nusa Dua, a 5-star beach front resort, partnered with the InJourney Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) to host an inspiring educational event. The “GM Teaches” initiative welcomed 100 students from SMP Negeri 4 Kuta Selatan and 10 students from SLB Negeri 1 Badung for a day dedicated to learning and future possibilities.

The event, held in the Suluban Meeting Room, was designed to provide students with a unique insight into the world of hospitality. The day began with a guided tour of the Merusaka resort, followed by a captivating dance performance from the students. A key highlight was the remarkable woodcrafting exhibition by students from SLB Negeri 1 Badung, showcasing their impressive talent.

Nusa Dua, Bali – In celebration of World Ocean Day, Merusaka Nusa Dua hosted a beach cleanup activity on Sunday, June 8, 2025, as part of its ongoing commitment to environmental

sustainability. The event began at 6:00 AM on the hotel’s beachfront area along the picturesque Mengiat Beach.

The initiative brought together hotel staff and guests in a shared effort to protect and preserve the beauty of Bali’s coastline. Mengiat Beach, like many others in the region, often experiences an accumulation of waste, including plastic debris, food packaging, driftwood, and other items carried by the wind and ocean currents.

“At Merusaka, we believe that sustainability is a shared responsibility. This beach cleanup was not just an event—it was a reflection of our values and a small but meaningful step toward a cleaner, healthier ocean,” said Ian Cameron, General Manager of Merusaka Nusa Dua.

The tradition will then transition into the Day of Silence/Nyepi on Saturday, March 29, 2025. Nyepi  is a significant tradition in Balinese Hinduism. It marks the Balinese New Year, a time for self-reflection and spiritual purification. On this day, all activities on the island are halted, including work, entertainment, and travel, in order to create a peaceful environment for meditation and contemplation. The “Catur Brata Penyepian” (Four Prohibitions) during Nyepi are: no lighting of fires, no working, no traveling, and no entertainment. It is a time to reflect on personal growth and the environment.

During Nyepi, Merusaka Nusa Dua will host a buffet dinner in the Mengiat Ballroom on 29 March 2025 from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
